Without a doubt, the English Premier League (EPL) is one of the most popular football leagues in the world, and it is full of excitement and surprises.
The EPL was founded in 1992, and since then we have seen some incredible EPL records broken, giving its well deserved reign over other English leagues.
Let's take a look at these spectacular English Premier League Records...
Team Records
1. Most Premier League Title wins
Manchester United currently hold the title for the most Premier League title wins, starting with the very first 1992/93 season, and they have been frequently consistent from there on.
They have a total of 13 titles, including seasons; 1992/93, 1993/94, 1995/96, 1996/97, 1998/99, 1999/00, 2000/01, 2002/03, 2006/07, 2007/08, 2008/09, 2010/11 & 2012/13.
Manchester United also hold the title for the most consecutive premier league wins, as you may be able to tell from the data above!
2. Most Premier League wins in a season
Manchester City and Liverpool currently tie for this record, both have won 32 out of 38 games in a season.
Manchester City have done this twice, in the 2017/18 and 2018/19 premier league seasons making them the winners of the record. Liverpool were able to break this record a year later in the 2019/20 season.
3. Most Premier League goals scored in a season
With a total of 106 goals in one season, Manchester City hold this record. City were able to top Chelsea's 2009/10 record of 103 goals almost 10 years later in the 2017/18 season.
Sergio Aguero had scored 21 of these goals with Raheem Sterling scoring 18, clearly Pep Guardiola’s landing had made a huge difference for the team having not won a PL title for 4 years and going on to break the goal record and win the league title.
4. Fewest goals conceded in a season
Jose Mourinho’s/Chelsea’s 2004/05 team took the lead with this record, with a total of just 15 goals conceded.
That same year, Chelsea won the league and had lost just 1 game that season, an insanely impressive year for the team.
It came with help from Petr Cech who had 25 clean sheets throughout the season and his sidekick John Terry in defence.
